The Webpower exclude list

The Exclude List is a list in Webpower that consists of mail addresses that are not emailed anymore from your Webpower license. The list can be accessed in Webpower at Setup > Exclude Lists. An email address can end up on the exclude list in three different ways:

  • Brand unsubscribe

A brand unsubscribe is a contact that has not only unsubscribed for a particular campaign but for the entire brand. The option to do a brand unsubscribe can be enabled or disabled in the ‘unsubscribe’ system page.

  • License spam complaint

A contact who announces via the email client that the emails they received are considered as spam may end up in the license spam complaint in Webpower.

  • License hard bounce

If emails fail to reach email addresses on several occasions, a contact will automatically be allocated to the hard bounce group and will also end up on the Exclude List.

Deleting contacts from the exclude list

It is possible to delete contacts from the exclude list. Be aware that we at Webpower strongly advise against this. If someone is on the exclude list, they probably have a good reason for being there.  However, if you should have solid reasons for removing a contact from the exclude list (for example, because the contact requested to do so), search for the contact and click on delete. The contact is now deleted from the exclude list and will stay in their previous group(s).

Using the exclude list

The exclude list can also be useful to exclude a particular group with the same domain. For example, if you have many spam addresses with the same expression in the list, use the exclude list to no longer send mails to these addresses. This improves deliverability.

How do I do that?

You can manually add an address or expression to the exclude list by pressing ‘add’. Here you must make the following choices:

  • First choose the exclude type (spam, hard bounce or brand unsubscribe)
  • Then select the brand for which you wish to exclude the address or expression
  • Then choose the campaign from which you wish to exclude the address or expression
  • Decide to enter either an email address or a particular expression
  • Enter the email address or the expression
